Welcome to the Reforged in Flame Announcement thread! Hope you've all had a great month so far. We're going to be talking about the massive upcoming patch and launch to the Shadowbane Emulator called "Reforged in Flame 1.5", topic by topic. If you're looking for the raw patch notes you can check those out over here.

The Reforged in Flame 1.5 launch will wipe our servers, open up a brand new map (not been used before!) and implement a wide range of updates, bug fixes, balance changes and new content that is sure to tickle your fancy. We've been working hard to make this a good experience for you all and hope that you find a little piece of something you're looking for within this new update. The testing period for this patch begins NOW, TODAY! The actual launch will begin after sufficient testing of the patch. We'll keep you updated!

Read on to find out about the different parts of the update. Ensure that you update your client as your old one will no longer be useful!

New Noob Island! The massive overhaul of the boring, grindy and time consuming Noob Island is almost here! Find PvP on the Island, fight for Mines, Outposts & the Centre Keep! We're excited about this one, it's been in the works with the CRT for some time. We'll be rolling this out in phases rather than all at once and will be developing alongside the testing period. The new experience on noob island will be all about player vs player and the Shadowbane experience. The foundations lay there now and we'll be expanding upon it and polishing the experience in upcoming updates. No more peace zone on noob island - fight for control of Haven Isle for your Hamlet!
More Details:
• Noob Island will no longer be a peace zone. (NOTE: It will still be a peace zone for the first day or so of server up)
• Pick your Hamlet. Choose wisely, you may only choose once.
• Fight with your allies in your hamlet against the other two Hamlets for control of 3 Outposts and the Centre Keep!
• The level range for the Island has been increased from maximum 21 to maximum 35.
• New Characters begin life at level 10, with 7,500 gold to spend on training and items.
• Find free and very-close-to-free gear at the Apprentice Armorer, Weaponsmith & Sage in your starter hamlet. R1 Trainers will also serve you here.
• Find some R2 trainers and one of the 3 Journeyman (better than Apprentice) smiths at each Outpost.
• Find all R3 Trainers & all of the 3 Journeyman (best noob isle vendors) at the Centre Keep.
• Fight all over the island!

Over the Testing Period we'll be unlocking the features for an update to the Lore on ARAC system that emphasizes the new system being about content, interesting choices and unique playstyles. The old system is replaced with a new less complicated, more empowering and much more fun version of the old system where each charter feels unique to the others, and more importantly, to ARAC. We hope you find the new system to be an improvement on the unpopular previous system! Check out the new charters here!
More Details:
• No more confusion. No more Biome Bonus for lore characters.
• No more obfuscation. No more Bane Bonus for lore characters.
• No more complex bonuses. No more Boon Bonus for lore characters.
• Just Feel Empowered: All LANDED lore characters now have a bonus 500 Health, 150 Mana, 75 Stamina, 10% Damage & 10% Power Damage. Permanently. (as long as you are tagged to a city)
• From 14 Charters to 7. Find the new charters here.
• New Lore: expansion on the system of lore with more of an emphasis on fun choices within the system.

One of the focuses of 1.5, 1.6 and beyond is to make you feel more powerful as a single player character. We want you to be less worried about having to log in a hundred bots or multiboxes to compete. In 1.5, Siege Bots and some forms of buff bots will be dramatically changed. Each of the siege disciplines will be worthy active character runes, and traditional buff powers will no longer work on buff bots as well! It stresses diverse strategies and using active characters for a professions' bonuses - not just using one or two classes and reaping all of the benefits through bots. The creative strategists out there will have a field day putting together new spec groups!
More Details:
• Single Target Resist Buffs now only last 60s. They're quick casting, combat buffs.
• Group Resist Buffs now only last 300s. They're quick casting preparation buffs. We'll reduce the duration further if we need to!
• No longer do Bards make all resist buffs/damagechants/etc redundant. Bard chants now stack with everything!
• Siege Discipline powers now cap at 1 train, instead of 20. Artillerist, Sapper & Sabo adjustments make those runes useful!
• Water Buckets, Sanc Heal & BM Burn are now % based and no longer scale on int or power damage.
• A new mechanic that caps the amount of bashing damage a building may take makes bringing more and more bashers less effective.

Re-Balanced Meta
A balance update of truly epic proportions. Goodbye Meatbane, Scoutbane, Priestbane & Zergbane! We'll work alongside you all to ensure the updates are working as intended and revert, tweak or implement further updates to that end. We hope the updated meta allows you all to come up with interesting new builds, ideas and spec groups to take advantage of the changes and show that your guild is truly the best. The old era spec groups might not shine in comparison to new ideas and we're excited to see those strategies and builds flourish!

Anti-Zerg Warfare
A big part of this update was giving more power to small groups of players to better combat large groups of players. Feel more empowered to use this toolset against large numbers of players, with the gap of damage output being cut in half or more. Large "zergs" of enemies have never been more vulnerable than they will be after the patch!

New World Map & Updated Zones
The worldmap is brand new and many zones have been updated in our Horizon updates. Koots has worked through the world to ensure each zone is viable and useful to level in, and you can expect a worldmap of the new map showing you the trainer & discipline dropper locations. We'll be working through the test period to identify which mines should be which resource type.

Less Pressure on IC's/GLs & the "farmer" guy in the guild!
New itemisation changes make it easier for new characters to get access to sufficient gear while their town is rolling better gear. A new always-present guild tax makes 5% of all gold looted go to your guilds' warehouse to pay for expansion, maintenance and rolling. No more do you need that "1 guy" to farm for hours every day.
Full Patch Notes Here:
General
• 5% of all gold looted now goes directly to your guild's warehouse.
• Root powers have been readjusted to 1.5 to 0.2s cast time, a duration of 20s to 40s and a cooldown of 20 seconds between power ranks 0 and 40.
• Personal Damage Absorber powers now absorb 1,000 damage, up from 750.
• Damage buffs have been rescaled to 10+0.75 of power rank. JM damage buffs will all be +20% damage, GM damage buffs will all be +40% damage.
• Travel Stance's movement speed component has been increased to 60% (from 50%).
• The Running skill is no longer modified by any attributes. It was formerly modified by Intelligence, Dexterity and Constitution.
• Water Bucket's healing effect has been changed to a % Heal over Time. It has a duration of 1 minute and an interval of 10 seconds. This means that it longer scales off of Int, Spirit or Power Damage.
• Single Target Resistance Buffs now stack with other resist power types (Group & Chants but NOT other Single Targets).
• Single Target Resistance Buff cast times and durations normalized. Their cast times are now 2 seconds (from 3-4s) and a duration of 60 seconds (from 900s).
• Group Resistance Buffs now stack with other resist power types (Single Target & Chants but NOT other Group buffs).
• Group Resistance Buffs train cap at PR-1 and grant +25 Resistance.
• Group Resistance Buff cast times and durations normalized. Their cast times are now 1 second (from 3-5s) and a duration of 180 seconds (from 900+s)
• Area of Effect powers will be moving away from their classic ruleset. Rather than "Group Friendly" or "Excludes Caster", Area of Effect powers will be changed to support the "Ignores 10 Allies" mechanic. This means that when an AoE power selects targets, X allies caught within its radius will be omitted regardless of to whose group they belong. An ally is a Nation Member.
• Area of Effect powers with effect radii between 28 and 32 have been normalized to 40 units. Ex: Call Lightning (formerly 32) now has an equivalent radius to Hedge of Thorns (40).
• Area of Effect powers now hit up to 60 player targets (from 7). The first 5 players hit by an AoE will take 100% damage and the remaining 55 targets will take 50% damage. This will show as 2 damage entries to the first 5, and one damage entry to the rest. Effects such as DoTs or Debuffs will apply evenly to all targets.
• The exceptions to this change are:
• Fury
• Call the Blizzard - Maximum Targets: 10 (Unmitigated)
• Call Storm - Maximum Targets: 10 (Unmitigated)

Necromancer
• Phantasmagoria - Maximum Targets: 60 (Unmitigated)

Sentinel

The +7 Tier of Affixes is the tier directly below the pre-Obsidian/Bloodstone tier, eg +15 Prefix Resists (previously +25), +7 Defense, +4 Melee Resistance, +8 Constitution Suffix, etc. These affixes ALL cost 1 Agate and no other resources.
• Agate may be found by defeating unique monsters.
• We are working to solidify the +9 Tier of Affixes. This includes +9 Defense, +25 (previously 35) spell resistance, +5.5 Melee Resistance, +12 Stat Bonus, etc.

If it's in your bank or you do not log that character in, it will not take damage. It no longer takes damage on death. Their drop rate has been reverted to the classic 10% (from RiF's 20%).
• Rebalanced Elite Item statistics may be viewed below:

• Stances no longer require characters to be in combat mode.
Healer
• The Restoration skill is now modified 100% by Spirit rather than 60% Int 40% Spirit. This will help differentiate support and damage builds. We expect the heal output of Intelligence heavy Healers to be reduced by around 15%.
• Blessed Mending's mana cost has been increased to 30-50 between power ranks 0 and 40 (from 10-26).

• Stalk may be trained to PR-40 and requires 18 points in Sneak. The movement speed component of this power is linked with its invisibility. The Detect Hidden component of this power has a duration of 15 seconds.
• Backstab Poisons have had their range increased from 0 to 15. This is ultimately a usability fix and should help players that often have difficulties with character sync.
• Blackmask Poisons have had their Stamina cost increased to 50 (from 20) and their cooldowns increased to 180s (from 30s).
• Backstab Poisons have been reworked. They now deal 2% Health/Mana/Stamina Damage (down from 3%) every 2 seconds (up from every 4/5 seconds), but now only last for 10s (down from 30 (Blackmask)) and 20s (from 60 (Thief & Assassin)). The result is more front loaded damage, but less harrassment/shutting down of stealthers and using it mid combat is more costly, especially as a follow up from Stalk (100 Stamina) to Backstab (50 Stamina).
• Buchinine Poison now also applies a Ground to its target for 45 Seconds (Blackmask) and 90 Seconds (Assassin & Thief).

While our Mine Mechanics update in Reforged in Flame 1.0 worked as intended, we felt it actually worked a little too well. It made conflicts at the end of the window less epic, so we're working to fix that problem and expand Mines to be accessable to our global playerbase. Mines will now no longer be set by nations, they will open at a set time every night - which randomises once per week. The guard tower mechanic will be phased out over the test period, and we'll be implementing some 30 minute mine windows for concentrated, epic fights.
Image
As we look to the future, we see Outposts on the horizon. This is a future update that will bring Outposts to the server, which are "saedron/vindication-like" lore outposts that you can capture for your guild. You'll gain the ability to teleport there, use some basic functionality or use the Outpost as a HQ to stage a bane from if you don't have a city. Further, special NPCs will exist in each Outpost and every outpost will have unique benefits for you to exploit. This will be a new content system to give you more to do outside of Mines & Banes!

Newb island should be a safe zone. Its how it was when Wolfpack done it, its how it always has been, its how it should remain. You're going to have geared, buffed, 35 alt who never levels but remains 35 just to troll/farm new players over and over until they log out.

Hey Raxis,

Everything you do on Noob Island grants you experience. That level 35 will be kicked off in no time if he's doing so well in PvP. We're also going to put in some soft anti griefing mechanics to the isle to help with that scenario. We're confident that the new island will be a lot more of a fun experience, but it's optional as you can leave once you hit level 15.
Completely different game.
It's almost like the dev's were spit-balling about balancing and someone jokingly said "This old code its horrible - every time you alter one factor it changes 200 other things you didn't expect! It seems like the only way to have any real balance in this game is if we throw that all away!"
...and so it was done.

Well the proof of the pudding is in the eating.
